The 350,000 sq. ft. Miami Cancer Institute features the first proton therapy facility in South Florida. Proton treatment beams radiation directly to a tumor while avoiding healthy tissue.
The first floor houses clinical treatment, with MRI and CT scan facilities. The second floor has physician’s offices and a state-of-the-art breast cancer treatment center. The fourth floor features 60 infusion spaces, which will serve more chemotherapy patients than any facility in the region.
A connected building houses three proton therapy treatment gantries on the first floor. The second through fourth floors houses nationally renowned researchers. The complex is served by an 800-space staff garage, separate 400-car visitor garage and central energy plant.
A modern design influenced by Baptist’s Mediterranean style features a glass canopy for natural light, a healing garden and easy circulation. Rich materials creating a warm, humanistic interiors to comfort patients and their families.
