West Kendall Baptist Hospital is the new centerpiece of the new Kendall Town Center in West Miami-Dade. Designed for future growth, the 290,000-square foot facility includes 134 beds, expandable to 300. Inspired by the iconic Mediterranean architecture of Baptist Hospital of Miami, the design features covered arcades, rich architectural detailing, and lush landscaped gardens. The new hospital reinforces the Baptist Health brand, a leader in patient care.
The hospital provides a comfortable, welcoming, and efficient facility that promotes healing and wellness. The layout offers separate traffic patterns for patients, visitors, and employees. The interior is organized around a two-story, light-filled atrium lobby that is open to the building’s central stairway and core, providing distinct separation of public and service areas. Primary public spaces lead directly to ambulatory care areas without crossing in-patient locations. Surgery, Imaging, Clinics, and Laboratories are located on the first floor. Nursing facilities located on upper levels, and a 25,000-square foot central energy plant, are also designed to be expandable.
A connected three-story medical arts building houses an imaging center, ambulatory care clinics, and other outpatient areas. Baptist West Kendall Hospital buildings has just received LEED Gold certification and is designed to withstand Category 5 hurricane winds. The hospital will serve as the training facility for Florida International University School of Medicine.
