FDOH - Miami Replacement Center

Miami, Florida

This new 64,000 sf., 4-story facility is situated within the site to allow the continued operation of the existing building during construction, master planning the area to replace the old structure with site parking until which time future related hi-rise buildings will be erected.    MGE worked with the various departments to establish a spatial program and planning diagrams allowing the Client to establish a budget commensurate with the scope of work.  The building will house the school immunization program, HIV/AIDS, Community Health, Women’s Health and Preventative Services, Public Health Preparedness Program, MIS and a clinical lab.  The urban site required vertical “stacking” of the departments to allow the public to flow vertically through the process, from contagious diseases  to registration to treatment and diagnostic.  The clinic floor is laid out to permit the public to have a perimeter circulation and waiting with the staff and services concentrated on the interior to maximize efficiency for staff.  Serving as the Emergency Operation Center, it is designed beyond minimum code and will withstand Category 5 hurricane winds and is able to produce emergency power to operate for 48 to 72 hours.
