This new facility provides a soothing, healing environment for the patient, flexible and efficient facilities for the staff, and an easily maintained physical plant that is capable of accommodating future growth.  Located on a 40-acre site, the hospital is part of a healthcare campus master plan that includes nursing homes, medical offices, and outpatient centers.

Medical center staff was consulted early in the design process to ensure that the facilities would best serve the Wuesthoff Health System’s patient care model.

Colors and textures evoke a tropical resort-like setting, conveying the relaxing ambience of Florida life.  The facility’s central core is a natural light-filled courtyard that provides a relaxing oasis for patients, visitors, and staff.  Materials and finishes were selected for infection control, durability, and ease of maintenance.  Key departments such as Surgery and Imaging were located adjacent to offices and storage spaces to allow for future expansion with minimal disruption of day to day operations.  Situated on lower levels, exterior open spaces allow for horizontal expansion beyond the building’s footprint.
